Ex-policeman Kevin Osborne has been arrested for being in possession of approximately 800 pounds of conch at the close of season.
Osborne, who is also a fisherman, was arrested at the Rocky Point Beach in Clarendon after the conch was found in a truck he owns.
During closed season, no fishing, hunting or capture of a specified animal is allowed by law.
These periods coincide with the peak breeding season of the species and are instituted to allow the animals to mature and revive their population.
Osborne is slated to attend court on November 23.
