Andrew Holness is 'strong Wi-Fi'! - Senator says JLP leader connects to everybody!
Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) Senator Kerensia Morrison yesterday called the party's leader Prime Minister Andrew Holness "strong Wi-Fi who connects to everybody" during her short address to the party's 75th annual conference, held at the National Arena.
Morrison, who some regard as one of the party's rising stars, said she was proud to be a Labourite.
"My leader is like strong public Wi-Fi. Signal naah drop and you can always connect to him. Him connect to everybody," said Morrison to loud applause from the conference crowd.
She said members at all levels of the party were accessible to the entire country and they took the mantle of service seriously.
Morrison's comments were echoed by former Prime Minister Bruce Golding, who, in a recorded 75th anniversary message, said the party was enjoying the strong leadership of Andrew Holness.
"He has tremendous vision for the country that has excited a number of people, especially young people. But he needs the support of the party, every member of the party. You must remember that the Government is not the party, so he needs the support of all," said Golding's message, in part.
The former prime minister, who resigned early under the weight of the Manatt, Phelps and Phillips scandal, which rocked the party after it stonewalled efforts by the United States Government to extradite Christopher 'Dudus' Coke, said he looked backed with fondness and pride at the party in its 75th year.
And, Edward Seaga, the party's longest-serving leader and former prime minister, made a surprise appearance at the conference and received resounding applause from the conference crowd.
Seaga's message was also video-recorded but was barely audible as the decibel levels of bell-ringing and horn-blowing Labourites were too high.
