Grange lauds Grammy nominees...they are all deserving

Minister of Entertainment Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange has lauded the Jamaican recording artistes nominated for the prestigious Grammy award.

Among the list of Grammy nominees for Best Reggae Album is singer Etana for her work, Reggae Forever and Protoje, for his project, A Matter of Time.

The others are Black Uhuru, for the album As The World Turns, Ziggy Marley for his album Rebellion Rises, as well as Shaggy and Sting for their album 44/876.

The winner will be announced at the Grammy Awards, scheduled to take place in Los Angeles, California on February 10 next year.

Grange indicated that all the nominees are deserving of the award.

“Each of this year’s nominees is deserving of this honour and I look forward to the announcement of the winner in the new year,” she said.

However, Grange singled out Etana and Protoje for their achievements.

“I must make special mention of Etana who has become the first woman in several years to be nominated for the Reggae Grammy,” she said in a statement. 

“This is a welcomed recognition of her many years of hard work and excellent music,” Grange added.

The entertainment minister says Protoje is “another young reggae artiste making a significant mark on the music.”

“We can all be proud of his achievements,” she said.
