MUMBAI, INDIA:

Jamaican Arnold 'JJ' Foote was recognised among the 100 Most Influential Global Marketing Leaders, on the opening day (November 27, 2018) of the fifth World Marketing Congress. Held in Taj Lands End, Mumbai, the congress pulled over 500 business leaders and media and communications practitioners from across the world through the partnership of CMO Asia; World Federation of Marketing Professionals; and World CSR Day.

The evening began with Foote joining the delegation of Dr R. L. Bhatia, founder patron of the World Marketing Congress; Avinash Pandey, chief operating officer of ABP News Network; Ed Hatton, owner of The Marketing Director; and Aalok Pandit, COO of the World Marking Congress for a candlelighting ceremony.

Foote also had the opportunity to address the audience, where he said, "Caribbean marketing practices are quite aligned with global principles and, in many cases, are faster and more aggressive. We are simply closer to ground zero and must remain agile to compete with the rapidly changing market dynamics in the region."

Caribbean advanced

The CEO and chief creative officer of the over 54-year-old firm, Advertising and Marketing (Ja) Limited (AdMark), added that the Caribbean is quite advanced with a robust digital and traditional media usage.

Following his brief message, Foote remained on stage as a guest presenter, handing out awards to several recipients prior to receiving his own from Anita Nayyar, CEO of India & South East Asia, Havas Media, and K V. Sridhar, founder and chief creative officer, HyperCollective.

The World Marketing Congress is governed by an advisory board that comprises senior professionals from various countries who guide the strategic design and content of the congress. The congress hosted the Global Marketing Excellence Awards and as a part of the awards, they recognised the 'Most Influential Global Marketing Leaders'.

The Leaders list is a result of an intensely researched process undertaken by the research cell, consisting of postgraduates in history and management with a combined 100-plus-years research experience.

The hard and intense work ethic of the research cell produced a shortlist of individuals doing extraordinary work, then tracked and recorded their achievements. The shortlist is then reviewed by a jury comprising senior professionals from across the globe.

The criteria adopted in this case include marketing competencies, strategic perspective and future orientation, track record, integrity and ethics, and the commitment to business, social or environmental sustainability.
