A murder investigation by the Montego Bay police is under way after the body of an unidentified man was found on Orange Street in the St James capital

According to a release from the police's Corporate Communication Unit (CCU), the body appears to be in the late thirties and is of dark complexion, medium build and about 183 centimetres (6 feet) long.

The body has a 'straight' face with facial hair, a straight nose, low-cut hair with the front of the head bald. It was clad in white T-shirt, army-green jeans and was barefoot.

Reports are that about 6:00 p.m., passers-by saw the body lying along the road and called the police. The man was taken to hospital by citizens, however he was pronounced dead.

Following further examination by forensic crime scene investigators yesterday, it was discovered that the body had a stab wound to the chest and a wound to the head.

Detectives are now appealing to anyone who may be able to assist them in the investigation to contact them at 876-953-6191, Crime Stop at 311 or the nearest police station.
