Twin mourns brother’s death in Lionel Town

The family of Norman Spence, a 65-year-old labourer of Newland district in Lionel Town, Clarendon, is now trying to come to grips with his death.
The senior citizen was killed on Wednesday in a motor vehicle collision along Dawkins Pen main road in the parish.
His death has left his twin brother, Michael, frustrated and trying to cope.
Recalling the last moments of his brother’s life on Ash Wednesday, he said Spence was drinking heavily.
“A pure liquor di man go round a drink, ‘cause him seh a holiday,” he recalled, adding that his brother soon departed, saying he was going to visit a friend.
Marlon Walters, nephew of the deceased, said that he was devastated at the sight of his uncle’s body.
“I feel so sad. Bwoy, mi waan bawl, but mi couldn’t bawl,” he said.
Walters said that on a regular day, his uncle would be on the street tinkering with his bike or hanging out at bars. He described his uncle as a “jokify man”.
“Is a man will come yah suh and him just start wine, and you haffi laugh, and him love him likkle deejaying,” he said.
The Lionel Town police reported that about 7:30 p.m., Spence was driving an Eagle motorcycle when the driver of a Toyota Succeed motor car collided with him. They were taken to hospital, where Spence was pronounced dead.
