Car theft after Buju's concert prompts appeal from cops to park only in designated areas

The theft last night of five vehicles belonging to patrons who attended Buju Banton's Long Walk to Freedom concert has prompted the police to issue an appeal for motorists to park only at designated areas for such events.

According to the police, none of the five stolen vehicles were parked at the designated area at the National Heroes Circle for the sold-out concert at the National Stadium.

One vehicle belonging to a patron was only broken into, according to a news release issued by the police's Corporate Communication Unit this afternoon.

Two of the five stolen vehicles have since been recovered, the police say.

The police are "appealing to motorists to always use only designated car parks when attending any event in order to lower the risks of theft or damage to their vehicles and their contents".

In the meantime, investigators are appealing to anyone with information that may assist in the probe to contact the Stadium police at 876-946-1831, Police emergency 119 numbers or the nearest police station.
