Samuda to assess management systems at Education Ministry

Minister without Portfolio in the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation Karl Samuda has indicated that he will be moving to assess management systems at the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information.

Meeting with executive management officers at the Ministry yesterday, Samuda informed that he intends to see to it that any weakness in general management, procurement or other areas are addressed in accordance with good governance principles.

Samuda was given interim oversight responsibility of the Ministry on Wednesday by Prime Minister Andrew Holness after Ruel Reid sacked.

Holness said he requested and received Reid’s resignation in the interest of good governance.

The move came amid an investigation into allegations of corruption at the ministry.

Samuda reassured yesterday’s meeting that he will work with the ministry’s teams to ensure continued public confidence in its operations.
