Hundreds of mourners have gathered at the St George's Anglican Church on Great George's Street in Savanna-la-mar, Westmoreland for the funeral service for former politician and Custos, Dosel Owen 'Hurry Hurry' Sinclair.

Former Prime Minister PJ Patterson is among those in attendance.

Sinclair was also a longstanding businessman and founder of the popular haberdashery chain Sinclair's Bargain Centre.

He passed away on February 22 at the age of 86.

In addition to his astute business acumen and his penchant for community service, Sinclair was known across Westmoreland for his generosity.

Several individuals, schools, sporting organisations and health facilities benefited from his kindness.

The Governor General Sir Patrick Allen is being represented by Reverend Hartley Perrin, Custos Rotulorum for the parish.

Sinclair will be interred at a later date.
