NWA undertakes $25M improvement works on Blue Hole roadway in St James
A $24.9 million road and drainage improvement contract has been executed on a section of the Blue Hole roadway in southern St James.
The project is being undertaken by the National Works Agency (NWA), as part of efforts to repair roadways which have been damaged by flood rains.
The Blue Hole community is located along the stretch of roadway leading from Montpellier to Mafoota and serves as a link to the neighbouring communities of Anchovy, Roehampton, Farm and Mt Horeb.
Community Relations Officer of the NWA’s Western Region, Janel Ricketts, says the project that commenced in March, is scheduled to be completed by August.
She explains that the project involves the rehabilitation of just over a kilometre of roadway, to include the construction of drains and resurfacing of the roadway using Asphaltic Concrete Overlay.
Ricketts says the project will complement a $12 million dollar road improvement contract that was completed along a section of the said roadway in August last year.
The project is being executed by contractor, Alfrasure Structures and Roofing Ltd under the NWA’s Maintenance of Secondary Roads Programme.
