The University of Technology, Jamaica was among 35 educational institutions to receive automated external defibrillator (AED) units valued at US$75,000 through Team Jamaica Bickle’s Defibrillator to Schools Programme on Wednesday, October 18. The portable life-saving devices are used to provide first aid medical care to individuals who experience sudden cardiac arrest. They are also designed to administer electrical shocks to help resuscitate the heart rhythms of individuals so impacted. Team Jamaica Bickle, with the help of its medical sponsors, will also be training representatives from the receiving organisations in the use of the defibrillators.
