ON WEDNESDAY, February 21, the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport hosted its annual Creative Career Expo at the Jamaica Conference Centre in downtown Kingston. In attendance were senior high school and tertiary-level students, as well as creative practitioners and entrepreneurs, who from all indications, thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

The ‘Creative Conversation’ between dancehall icon Sean Paul and affable host, Terri-Karelle Reid, was riveting and revealing. The personal disclosures and advice from guest speaker, the multi-talented Jamaican American actress, Sundra Oakley, captured the audience’s attention for her entire presentation. She was the perfect choice.

Equally helpful and engaging were the panel discussions involving Dream Weekend Entertainment’s managing director, Scott Dunn; From Thought to Finish’s CEO, Jacqui Tyson; filmmaker, Storm Saulter; international lighting designer, Ryan Stumpp; interior decorator, Angelie Spencer; and Romeich Entertainment’s CEO Romeich Major.

Entertainment-wise, Digicel Rising Stars 2023 winner, Remone Watson, brought the house down. The Djembe-Kon Drummers and others gave the audience a feast so sweet that some people got on their feet and rocked to the beats. There were also booths with things for sale, and others where entities were promoting their goods and services. For one day only, there was much on the plate.
