The accused has denied the allegations.

A committal hearing is to be held on May 27 in the St Catherine Parish Court for Linstead taxi operator Kirkland Young who is charged with a raft of sexual offences including rape.

Young is also charged with grievous sexual assault, sexual touching, aiding and abetting rape, having sexual intercourse with a person under 16 years, buggery, and possession of child pornography.

The 44-year-old is also charged with trafficking, misprison of a felony, and failure to report a felony to the Office of the Children's Registry.

When the matter was called up today, the court was informed that the Crown's case file is complete and that it is ready to proceed.

Young's attorney Stefan Mathews also indicated that he too was ready.

Allegations are that between January 2022 and December 2023 the complainant was forced to perform sexual activities on the accused.

A report was subsequently made to the police, and in February this year, an investigation was launched by the Centre for Investigation of Sexual Offence and Child Abuse (CISOCA).

Following the probe, Young was arrested and later charged.

He has denied the allegations.
