Policeman injured after walking in on robbery at St Andrew store

A police constable is undergoing treatment at hospital for injuries he sustained during a robbery at a business establishment on Constant Spring Road in St Andrew on Wednesday.

The Half-Way Tree police say about 11:20 a.m., the policeman entered the store while the robbery was under way.

Upon seeing the policeman, one of the armed robbers reportedly fired at him. He took evasive action and returned fire, however, the assailants managed to escape.

The store owner was stabbed during the incident and had to seek medical attention.

Investigators reportedly suspect that one of the robbers was shot and injured during the exchange.

They are currently seeking a female who was involved in the incident and who is also linked to other recent robberies.
