15-y-o Irwin High student fatally stabbed in attack, school in mourning

Students and teachers at Irwin High School in St James are in mourning over the stabbing death of a 15-year-old boy during an attack by a group of students on Thursday afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as Raniel Plummer. 

When our news team visited today, counselling sessions were being held with grieving students.

Teachers were also locked in a meeting.

Our news team also observed heightened searches of students arriving for school.

School officials declined to be interviewed about the deadly incident.

The Gleaner was informed by the police that Plummer was “approached and attacked by a group of students outside the school compound" at approximately 3 p.m. 

During the attack, Plummer was stabbed in the chest by a 14-year-old male student.

It was indicated that they had earlier had an altercation while at school.

The injured youngster was rushed to the Cornwall Regional Hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment. 

The police declined to comment on the status of the 14-year-old schoolboy said to have stabbed Plummer.
