A reputed enforcer within the Clansman gang, 'Termite', was reportedly killed in a shootout with the police on Friday night.

'Termite', given name Sheldon Walters, is said to be from Kitson Town in St Catherine.

Walters was reportedly killed sometime after 8 p.m. in a community known as Top Banks in St Catherine.

Details of the confrontation have not been ascertained.

The incident has reportedly left the community and other sections of Spanish Town tense.

The police are still in the area and the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has been notified.

Walters had reportedly assumed control of a faction of the Clansman gang after Andre 'Blackman' Bryan was incarcerated.

In 2016 Walters was before the court on a charge of illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
