King Alarm guard charged with assault of 9-y-o girl at UWI

The St Andrew Central police have confirmed that a security guard was today charged with the assault of a nine-year-old girl at the University of the West Indies, Mona.

The matter, which is still under investigation, occurred on Monday.

Commander of the St Andrew Central Police Division Senior Superintendent Marlon Nesbeth told The Gleaner that the guard, who remains in custody, is employed to the King Alarm group.

Nesbeth said, “We are investigating that it was a sexual attempt also.”

The Gleaner understands an alarm was raised and the child was rescued by passers-by.

The guard, who attempted to flee, was subsequently held.

The Campus Director of Security at the university also confirmed the incident.
