The police at the Norman Manley International Airport have arrested and charged an American citizen who was allegedly held with ammunition in his luggage on Saturday night.

Shane Samuels, 41-year-old welder, of Westerlage Street, Los Angeles, USA, is charged with unauthorised possession of ammunition.

About 9:40 p.m., Samuels arrived on a Delta Airlines flight from Los Angeles and, while being checked by customs, an X-ray of his suitcase revealed a magazine.

Further checks revealed the magazine was loaded with 15 rounds of nine millimetre cartridges.
