Another accused in Spanish Town kidnapping offered bail

Forty-three-year-old Ricardo Henry, who is among six people charged in relation to the kidnapping of a businessman in Tawes Pen, Spanish Town, St Catherine, was granted $750,000 bail when he appeared in the Gun Court on Monday.

The Spanish Town resident is charged with kidnapping, demanding money by menace, possession of prohibited weapon and using a prohibited weapon to commit a felony.

As a condition of his bail, Henry is to report to the Spanish Town Police Station three times weekly, surrender his travel documents and reappear in court on July 1.

It is alleged that on December 28 last year the accused beat and assaulted the businessman after accusing him of being a thief.

The businessman was allegedly kidnapped and a demand of $100,000 was reportedly made for his release.

The police conducted an operation, during which a man was fatally shot.

The complainant was rescued by the police.

Three others charged in the case, Damion Ferguson, Joan Borel and a 17-year-old schoolboy, have already been granted bail.  

The other co-accused in the case are Norman Davis and Andrew Williams.
