NCU Radio is to host the 9th staging of its annual Acts of Kindness School Tour from May 3-31, under the theme Taking Positive Action’.

This year, the tour promises to inspire action as it embarks on a journey of kindness and compassion, reaching schools across the island. In addition to the regular visits to school, the tour will, on Labour Day Thursday, May 23, do beautification and repairs work at the Windsor School for Special Education in Spanish Town, St Catherine.

“I am very pleased to be associated with NCU Radio, whose support for positive values go beyond demographics through the Acts of Kindness programme each year,” said Nigel Coke, chairman of the NCU Media Group Advisory Board. “The tour fits into our ethos of transforming lives through education and wellness. In addition to teaching useful values of love and kindness to students, we are happy to get more physical this time around by lending our support to the Windsor School for Special Education, an institution that creates a unique learning environment that fits the unique needs of their students.”

Schools to be impacted by the tour this year are:

BB Coke High - St Elizabeth

Excelsior Group of Schools - Kingston

DeCarteret College - Manchester

Kellits High - Clarendon

Morant Bay Primary – St Thomas

Ensom City Primary – St Catherine

St James High – St James

Arnold Kelly, general manager of NCU Media Group, expressed his excitement about this year’s tour, saying, “If a line of a song can change your mood for the day, and if a verse can change your outlook on life, we believe that a few minutes of positive affirmation, coupled with reminders of the virtues of kindness, can plant seeds that will grow in the fertile fields of our minds. Over the nine years, we have seen the fruit and so, while it may seem natural to complain about weeds, we will continue to sow through The Acts of Kindness School Tour.”

Since its inception, the tour has impacted thousands of students, fostering a spirit of empathy and altruism that extends far beyond the school gates. From simple acts of generosity to larger community projects, the Acts of Kindness School Tour continues to be a catalyst for positive change across Jamaica.

The tour has garnered support from various sectors, including government and private institutions who recognise its invaluable contribution to youth development, a release from the organisers notes.

“As the 9th staging of the Acts of Kindness School Tour unfolds, on Friday, May 3, and continues every Monday and Friday for the month of May, NCU FM invites everyone to join in spreading kindness and making a difference in the lives of others,” Kelly added.

The Acts of Kindness School Tour, a flagship initiative of NCU FM, aims to cultivate a culture of kindness and empathy among Jamaica’s youth. Through a series of engaging and interactive sessions, the tour encourages students to embrace the power of kindness in their daily lives and communities.
