Over 100 cartons of cigarettes seized in March Pen Road, Spanish Town

A police-military team today seized over 100 cartons of cigarettes during an operation in the community of March Pen Road in Spanish Town, St Catherine.

The cigarettes were discovered at a premises.

The police say the team went to the area in search of guns, drugs and wanted persons.

They say during the operation a man was held along March Pen Road with a loaded gun.

He was taken into custody.

Two other persons were also held on suspicion on other offences.

As the operation continued, a premises was searched and the team discovered more than 100 cartons of cigarettes believed to be uncustomed.

"We commend the team and we will continue to conduct these operations to stem criminal activities within the space," said head of the St Catherine North Police Division, Superintendent Hopton Nicholson.
