Nestlé has announced its strategic partnership with the Jamaica Red Cross (JRC) through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), marking a significant step towards enhancing community support and fostering sustainable development initiatives across Jamaica.

Under the terms of the MOU, Nestlé will provide both volunteerism and resources to support various initiatives led by the Jamaica Red Cross. This includes corporate donations, sponsorships, and product contributions aimed at addressing critical areas such as Food Access, Community Connectedness, and Environmental Education.

In April, the Jamaica Red Cross received its first disbursement of Nestlé products, including a range of nutritious offerings such as MILO, Breakfast Cereals, Omega Milk, Nature’s Heart Almond Milks, Nestlé Flavoured Milks, MAGGI Seasonings, and MAGGI 2-Min Noodles.

These products will be utilised to support several nutritional initiatives led by the Jamaica Red Cross, including consistent food support to vulnerable populations such as the homeless, elderly shut-ins, the sick, and those unable to work, a release notes.

Additionally, the products will also contribute to feeding programmes across the island and provide support to needy students at all school levels. This year, the Jamaica Red Cross strives to make a positive difference in a minimum of 100 schools nationwide, concentrating particularly on bolstering breakfast and feeding initiatives for underprivileged students.

The disbursement ceremony took place at Nestlé’s Distribution Centre in Kingston, where Nestlé’s Public Relations Manager Camille Campbell presented the products to the president of the Jamaica Red Cross, Allasandra Chung, along with the Director General Yvonne Clarke, and Deputy Director Kevin Douglas.

Chung, expressed gratitude for Nestlé’s generous contribution, stating, “This partnership with Nestlé represents a significant milestone in our mission to empower communities and enhance the quality of life for vulnerable individuals. We look forward to working closely with Nestlé to deliver sustainable solutions that make a lasting impact,” she said.

Commenting on the partnership, Campbell said, “Nestlé is committed to making a positive difference in the communities where we operate. We are proud to partner with the Jamaica Red Cross to support their commendable efforts in addressing societal challenges and improving the well-being of Jamaicans across the island.”

The overarching goal of the Jamaica Red Cross is to alleviate human suffering and enhance the well-being of marginalised individuals. The partnership with Nestlé, notably evident during the COVID-19 pandemic, continues to bolster the JRC’s ability to address food and nutritional requirements. This collaboration extends support to children in educational settings and residential care, as well as to the elderly and individuals with disabilities in various institutions and local communities.

Nestlé remains dedicated to leveraging its resources and expertise to create shared value and drive positive change in Jamaica. Through partnerships like this one with the Jamaica Red Cross, Nestlé continues to uphold its purpose of enhancing quality of life and contributing to a healthier future for all.
