A 27-year-old St Andrew resident has been charged with breaches of the Firearms Act following the seizure of an illegal gun and ammunition outside a nightclub in Manor Park in the parish early Sunday morning.

He has been identified as Trimaine Raymond, otherwise called 'Pepe', of Grassquit Lane, Kingston 11.

The Constant Spring Road police say about 3:30 a.m., an off-duty police officer accosted Raymond outside a nightclub in the Manor Park area after his actions aroused the cop's suspicions.

Raymond was searched and a bag that he was carrying was reportedly found to contain one Smith and Wesson nine millimetre pistol fitted with a magazine containing five cartridges.

He was arrested and later charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition.

His court date is being arranged.
