Yallahs High principal Mark Malabver to be declared JTA president-elect
Principal of Yallahs High School in St Thomas, Mark Malabver, has won the Jamaica Teachers' Association (JTA's) presidential election.
Seven candidates contested the election held June 17 to 21.
Malabver, having secured the highest number of votes in the preliminary count, has been declared president-elect designate.
He will be officially proclaimed the winner at the JTA's 60th annual conference scheduled for August 19 to 21 in Trelawny.
"I am overwhelmed, I am humbled by the confidence that the membership of the JTA has bestowed on me and I have every intention of the leading the institution, the JTA, the teachers, to the best of my ability," Malabver said after the results were announced.
Malabver will take the reins of the JTA in 2025.
Munro principal Mark Smith is the incoming president for the conference year 2024-25.
