The National Works Agency (NWA) is to rehabilitate the Santa Cruz to Leeds main road in St Elizabeth at a cost of just under $116 million.

The project will be undertaken over the next eight months.

The road is one of the main access routes to the Southern St Elizabeth communities of Malvern, Hampton and Potsdam.

Manager, Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw, says that just over five and half kilometres of the road will be rehabilitated.

The works will include drainage improvement, installation of sidewalks, a new base and asphaltic concrete paving.

Shaw says that once the works are completed, travel to critical service centres such as the Bethlehem Moravian College, Munro College and Hampton High School will be made easier.

Motorists and pedestrians are being advised to obey the instructions of the flagmen, and warning signs when using the corridor.
