Teacher charged with indecent assault of 12-y-o student remanded

A male teacher charged over allegations that he sexually molested a 12-year-old female student under his care was remanded in the St Catherine Parish Court today.
The 30-year-old is charged with indecent assault, sexual touching and sexual grooming.
His name is being withheld to protect the identity of the minor.
In court today, the defence attorney indicated that the case file is thick and that time is needed to be go through it.
Senior Parish Court judge Yvette Wenthworth-Miller remanded the accused until July 2.
He allegedly committed the crimes at the school.
The matter was reported to the Spanish Town police and following an investigation the teacher was arrested.
He was subsequently charged after a question and answer session in the presence of his attorney.
