The Miss Universe Jamaica Grand Coronation Finale which was scheduled for Saturday has been postponed due to the passage of Hurricane Beryl, the organiser has announced.

In a media release on Wednesday, the Miss Universe Jamaica Organisation said the safety and well-being of the reigning queens, Miss Universe Shenyiss Palacios and Miss Universe Jamaica Dr Jordanne Lauren Levy, as well as contestants, staff, and supporters are of the utmost importance.

"Please be assured that the Grand Coronation will still take place, and we will promptly notify you of the new date once it is confirmed, it said.

Thirty-four women of all shapes, ages and sizes were sashed in May in preparation for the Miss Universe Jamaica Grand Coronation.

A big factor in this year's varied contestant pool was the recent increase in the competition's age limit.

The change was announced in September of 2023 by the Miss Universe Organisation, and allowed women aged 18 years and older to participate in the global competition – up from the previous limit of 28 years old.
