DIGITAL GLOBAL Marketing Limited (DGM) is poised to transform the entrepreneurial and creative landscape with the introduction of Enigma Co-working, a state-of-the-art creative hub bolstered by a substantial investment of US$645,000 (J$100 million). This initiative is designed to streamline the journey from ideation to creation, catalysing the local creative and entrepreneurial ecosystems.

As a cornerstone for sector development, DGM – a Caribbean-based, global media and technology agency specialising in interactive media advertising, digital transformation, marketing, web and app development, data, and consulting – is at the forefront of this venture. As a subsidiary of Digital Global Group Inc, DGM’s initiative underscores its unwavering commitment to innovation and growth.

Situated at Unit 304 in the Real Equity Professional Suites at 218 Mountain View Avenue, Enigma will provide start-ups and small and micro enterprises with the atmosphere, connections, equipment, and marketing support necessary for effective scaling. Enigma is equipped with ergonomic furniture and world-class technologies designed to enhance productivity and wellness. Notably, its rentable ‘sleeper pods’ – a first on the island – offer entrepreneurs a space to relax and rejuvenate, fostering creativity.

Enigma’s environment is designed to promote the free flow of ideas and collaboration, making it an ideal venue for think tanks and networking events.

Founder and CEO Kemal Brown expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating: “Enigma is a catalyst for economic growth. By providing an environment where creativity and entrepreneurship can thrive, we are paving the way for a new wave of innovation in Jamaica.”

Funding was arranged for the venture from a combination of shareholders’ equity and debt. Two-thirds of the venture’s capital was allocated for property acquisition, with the remainder invested in architectural design, retrofitting, equipment and technology, web design, application development, and vendor and contractor payments. Since the commencement of the project, over 15 jobs have been created, contributing to economic growth.

Brown emphasised the venture’s potential to drive economic growth by enhancing capacity in the productive sector. “Entrepreneurship has the power to transform our economy. With Enigma, we are creating the infrastructure needed for our creatives, professionals, our clients and entrepreneurs to take their ideas and manifest them,” he stated. Enigma is a half of what the company has termed the Creative Collective, with the other half dubbed Studio D – Jamaica’s premier multimedia hub. “Studio D is the ultimate space for limitless creative expression created by DGM to encourage transformative partnerships and foster creative synergy,” Brown indicated. Studio D is located at Unit 307, a few steps away from Enigma, allowing one to first ideate and then create, bringing their ideas to life in the innovative multimedia studio, which will also be launched soon.

Brown highlighted the untapped potential of the local creative entrepreneurial economy, noting the absence of a central collaborative space with the necessary production capabilities. “The creative entrepreneurial economy, while burgeoning, remains relatively untapped locally,” he said. “Enigma aims to fill this gap, allowing businesses and creatives to bring their ideas to life quickly and efficiently.”

This innovative move by DGM seeks to formalise and scale the largely informal creative community, helping them monetise their craft. “We see Enigma as a game changer for the creative community,” Brown added. “It’s about more than just providing a space; it’s about creating opportunities and fostering a culture and community of innovation.”

Brown also revealed ongoing discussions with potential partners to expand the venture islandwide through training, grant funding, mentorship, and venture capital investment, under the banner of Enigma Labs, an accelerator initiative. “Our goal is to deepen the reach and impact of these spaces, providing the support that our creatives and entrepreneurs need to formalise and accelerate their ventures to profitability. We want to focus on founders who want to grow real businesses, with real results, and those willing to put in the sacrifice, humility and dedication to bring their dreams into reality,” he noted.

As DGM takes this bold step, Jamaica stands on the brink of a creative and entrepreneurial renaissance, with Enigma Co-working at its helm.
