It was contrasting results for Jamaica's long jumpers in the men's qualification round as 2019 world champion Tajay Gayle missed out on the final while Wayne Pinnock and Carey McLeod booked their individual spots in the top 12.

Gayle finished 10th in Group B and 19th overall in the qualification round with his best effort of 7.78 metres falling short of the required mark needed to advance to the final.

McLeod, however, did just enough to get into the final as his jump of 7.90 was tied with 12th placed Simon Batz of Germany as the qualifying cut-off point.

Pinnock was the best performer on the day for Jamaica.

He was comfortably into the final with his effort of 7.96, seeing him ranked seventh.

The final is set for Tuesday at 1:15 p.m.
