David Fritz Anderson nominated as independent candidate in St Ann NE
Former People's National Party (PNP) member David Fritz Anderson has been nominated to run as an independent candidate in the September 30 by-election in St Ann North East.
He is one of two independent candidates expected to be nominated today along with the Jamaica Labour Party's Matthew Samuda.
Anderson said he had sought to represent the PNP in the local government elections but aborted the process.
Commenting on the PNP's decision not to contest the election, Anderson said "If it is their decision not to contest it, I think they have valuable reason why..."
"I am not here on a PNP business, I am on people's business," Anderson stressed.
Anderson also expressed confidence in his chance of winning the election stating that "I am not a failure".
The by-election was called after Marsha Smith resigned as the constituency's member of parliament.
