It is party-like atmosphere inside the National Arena in St Andrew as People's National Party (PNP) members and supporters from all across Jamaica stream in for the 86th staging of the party's annual conference.

While music blasts from the speakers, the atmosphere is periodically punctuated with sounds of vuvuzelas and loud cheers as supporters march in with their respective candidates and with marching bands and cheerleaders in one instance.

The supporters are seemingly warming up for what they expect to be the party's last conference ahead of the upcoming general elections.

While some supporters were spotted plying wares, including party memorabilia, face rags, jewellery and ganja, others were seen skanking with liquor in their cups puffing on cigarettes and spliffs.

Others were also seen trying their luck at a game of 'crown and anchor'.

Marcia Dunkley, 59, who travelled from North East St Elizabeth said nothing could have stopped her from attending the conference.

"Mi always luv and support mi party, if a dog dem put up a dog mi a support. I'll support anything the party [put forth]," she said.

Joseph Piggot, 78, another party faithful, said he was out supporting the party because it's the party that cares and supports the lower and middle classes.

Furthermore, he said, "The PNP policies surpass the JLP policies in everyday."

Another supporter from Manchester, Junior, when asked why he came out said, "Cause I love my party and we need better for the youths. They need proper education and healthcare."

He also said young people need more employment.
