A 16-year-old boy and two men who were charged over the seizure of a gun following a robbery were remanded in the St Catherine Parish Court today.

Alex Ashley, Sanja Smith, and the teen, whose name is being withheld because he is a minor, are charged with robbery with aggravation, using a weapon in a felony, possession of a prohibited weapon, and unauthorised possession of ammunition.

The case against them has been transferred to the Gun Court for mention on October 11.

The court was told that the police launched an intelligence-driven operation along the Spanish Town Bypass to intercept criminals who robbed a business in Jericho district.

The police say the driver of a Nissan Teana motor car was signalled to stop and he complied.

They say the vehicle was searched and a nine-millimetre pistol affixed with a magazine containing 17 rounds of ammunition was seized.

The car's three occupants were arrested on suspicion of breaches of the Firearms Act.

They were formally charged following a question and answer session.
