Juliet Salmon wins National Senior Spelling Bee Competition
St Andrew resident Juliet Salmon is the National Senior Spelling Bee Champion for 2024.
This is the very first time the 61-year-old retiree entered the competition, which today held its 20th staging.
“I never knew it was such a thing and I decided to enter with my mother, because I was fascinated by it,” Salmon told The Gleaner immediately after her victory.
The competition took place at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel in New Kingston.
The competition was hosted by the National Council for Senior Citizens in partnership with the Ministry of Labour and Social Society.
The event forms part of national activities for Senior Citizens' Month celebrations.
