Teenagers accused of shooting at police charged
Two 19-year-old men have been charged under the Firearms Act after they allegedly engaged police personnel in a shootout at the intersection of Fourth Avenue and First Street, Newport West, Kingston 13, on August 15.
Jaheim Webb, otherwise called 'Home', and Tyrese Ryman, both of Kingston 13 addresses, have been charged with two counts of shooting with intent, possession of a prohibited weapon, using a firearm to commit a felony and possession of unauthorised ammunition.
The Hunts Bay police allege that about 10:30 p.m., Webb and Ryman committed a robbery along Lyndhurst Road in St Andrew.
The vehicle in which they were travelling was spotted and the driver of the motor vehicle was signalled to stop, however, he reportedly disobeyed.
They were pursued and the men allegedly opened fire at the lawmen.
The police say Webb and Ryman escaped, leaving the vehicle behind.
On Sunday, October 6, an operation was carried out and both men apprehended.
They were charged after a question and answer session in the presence of their attorney on Monday.
