The bus park at Nelson Mandela Park in Half-Way Tree, St Andrew, has been cordoned off as investigators probe a police shooting incident at the location.

Buses are being rerouted and pedestrian traffic has been curtailed.

The Gleaner understands that the police shot a knife-wielding man in his leg about 11:40 a.m.

Our news team was in the area and saw the police giving chase to the injured man before he was instructed to drop the knife.

Two explosions were heard and the man fell to the ground.

The injured man was assisted to hospital.

Curious motorists stopped along the roadway and some even recorded the incident.
