The police constable was hospitalised since the October 4 incident.

The policeman who was severely injured in a hit-and-run in St James earlier this month has died.

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) says Constable Linroy Codner passed away in hospital this morning.

Codner sustained multiple brain injuries after being struck by a white Toyota Probox while on duty in the Granville on Friday, October 4.

The incident occurred some time after 3:00 p.m. when the constable, who was assigned to the Granville Police Station in St James, was struck by a vehicle while on duty.

The constable was reportedly thrown over a nearby precipice, suffering multiple injuries.

He was receiving treatment in intensive care before being transferred to the Falmouth facility.

The JCF, through its Chaplaincy Branch, has informed Codner's immediate family of his passing and continues to offer them support during this difficult time.

JCF colleagues have expressed sorrow at the loss, with many calling for prayers and support for the grieving family.

The passing of the policeman has been described as a significant loss to the force.
