St Catherine father gets almost 12 years for incest, sexual assault of teen daughter

A 36-year-old father who pleaded guilty to the sexual molestation of his teen daughter was today sentenced to almost 12 years in prison in the St Catherine Circuit.

In handing down sentencing, Justice Yvonne Brown described acts committed by the man as “wicked".

The court heard that the father committed various sexual acts against the complainant over several months.

The offences were said to have taken place in September 2021 when the complainant was 13 years old.

The ordeal was revealed to a relative and a report made to the police's Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA).

The accused was subsequently arrested and charged.

He had pleaded guilty to two counts of grievous sexual assault, one count of sexual touching and incest.

In court today, he was sentenced to 11 years and 11 months for grievous sexual assault, three years and two months for sexual touching and three years and two months for incest.

The sentences are to run concurrently.
