One escapee from Barnett Street lock-up killed by police, another recaptured

The police say one of the five inmates who escaped from the Barnett Street Police Station on Saturday was killed in a confrontation with the police while another has been recaptured.
They say 42-year-old Edgar Spence, a labourer of Belinda district, Flower Hill, St James was fatally shot during a confrontation which unfolded about 11:45 a.m. Saturday.
Another man, 36-year-old Fidel Ferguson of Mountain View, Greenwood, St James, was recaptured after residents of Paisley district in the parish summoned them about 3 a.m. Sunday.
The residents reportedly told police Ferguson told them he was shot by unknown assailants.
Upon arrival of the police, Ferguson was reportedly seen suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. He was taken to hospital where he is being treated under police guard.
The police are imploring the other three escapees to turn themselves in to the nearest police station.
They are:
* Twenty-two-year-old Tyrese Brown of Albert Town, Trelawny, who is charged with murder and rape.
* Twenty-three-year-old Daniel McIntosh of Peddlars Lane, Mount Salem, St James, who is charged with possession of a prohibited weapon.
* Forty-three-year-old Maurice Belnavis of Greens Paradise, Norwood, St James, who is charged with simple larceny.
Members of the public are also reminded that it is a criminal offence to harbour fugitives at their homes.
Additionally, anyone with information that can assist in locating these individuals is asked to contact the Montego Bay Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB) at 876- 953-6191, Crime Stop at 311, the JCF tip line at 811 or the nearest police station.
