Jamaica Broilers brings hope to the elderly and children in its St Catherine communities

As part of its ongoing commitment to supporting neighbouring communities, Jamaica Broilers Group brought the hope of the season to over 1,000 elderly, indigents and children in McCook’s Pen and Spring Village in St Catherine.

Valued at over $2 million, the initiative was spearheaded by the company’s internal volunteer programme, ‘Share the Love’. Volunteers went door-to-door to deliver Best Dressed Chicken care packages to the elderly and indigent, while children enjoyed a fun-filled day with rides, toys and refreshments.

Speaking about the project, Media and Corporate Events Officer at Jamaica Broilers, Anna-Kay Green, expressed how important it was for the company to go into their communities and give back at this time of year.

“This has been an annual project in both our Spring Village and McCook’s Pen communities, and we always want to make sure that we are able to touch the lives of those vulnerable members at this time of year such as the elderly, the less fortunate and of course the little ones,” said Green.

“We want to contribute in a practical but meaningful way, so each year we look to expand our giveback to the communities in which we operate. For the elderly, each package includes essential grocery items including everyone’s favourite – A-Grade Best Dressed Chicken.”

In addition to care packages and hosting children’s treats in Spring Village and McCook’s Pen, the company has broadened its reach to neighbouring areas such as Cumberland, Free Town, and Sydenham, providing product support towards initiatives benefiting the seniors and children.

“The yearly gift from Jamaica Broilers is something that we look forward to in McCook’s Pen,” said resident Mable Kepple.

“This is what helps make up our Christmas dinner every year. Knowing they care enough to think of us year after year means so much.”
