Westmoreland woman charged with murder of boyfriend
A 27-year-old Westmoreland woman has been charged with last week's stabbing-murder of her 50-year-old boyfriend, who reportedly attacked her after a "break-up" conversation the police say.
The accused woman is Donieka Segree, unemployed, from Hertford District in the parish.
She allegedly confessed to the crime, a police statement said on Saturday.
The deceased man has been identified as Vernon McIntosh, from Savanna-la-Mar, the parish capital.
The incident occurred on December 18.
The police report that McIntosh visited Segree's home after the break-up conversation earlier that day and an argument later developed.
McIntosh allegedly became boisterous and struck the woman in her face.
In response, Segree allegedly grabbed a knife and stabbed him several times.
He was rushed to the hospital but later died from his injuries.
The police say Segree gave a caution statement on Friday, confessing to the murder.
She was later charged with murder.
