Police seize two guns and ammunition, one person charged

The Jamaica Constabulary Force's Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team from the Specialised Operations Branch seized two firearms and ammunition during separate incidents on Sunday.

The police say in one incident, about 10:45 a.m., during an operation in Tawes Pen, St Catherine, the team recovered one Hi-Point .45 calibre pistol, one submachine gun, eight .45 calibre rounds and four magazines.

One individual was arrested and charged in connection with this seizure.

In another incident, about 7:15 a.m., the team conducted an operation in Green Pond, St James, resulting in the recovery of 57 rounds of ammunition.

Since the beginning of the year, the Jamaica Constabulary Force has seized several firearms and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.
