A 36-year-old man from Zion Hill Crossroads, Richmond, St Mary, has been arrested on suspicion of committing several offences following a shooting incident at a bar in the community Wednesday night.

A police report is suggesting that about 10:50 p.m, the suspect and a 27-year-old construction worker from Orange River, Richmond, were involved in an argument, which escalated.

The suspect reportedly left and later returned with a firearm, and allegedly discharged two rounds in the other man's direction. The intended target escaped unharmed and reported the matter to the police.

The suspect later turned himself in.

The police later conducted an operation at his residence, where law enforcement officers reportedly recovered a black and silver nine millimetre Taurus G2C firearm with a magazine containing two live rounds and one additional cartridge in the chamber.

The firearm was reportedly found wrapped in a mauve cloth inside a transparent bag at the base of a pineapple plant on the property.

The scene of the shooting was processed, and a spent nine millimetre casing was recovered. Investigations are ongoing.
