Optimistic Tamoy Sinclair ready for TMC challenges
Western Bureau:
Tamoy Sinclair, who took up the post of chief executive officer (CEO) at the Trelawny Municipal Corporation (TMC) on January 1, 2025, was given a warm welcome when she attended her first municipal meeting last Thursday.
In welcoming her, Falmouth Mayor Colin Gager said the entire municipal body was happy to have her and that they were looking forward to a fruitful relationship working with her.
“All of us in the municipality welcome you with open arms. The officers and the nine councillors are looking forward to working with you as you provide guidance to us,” said Gager.
While it is the first time that Sinclair will be working in such a capacity, she comes to the position with 16 years of experience in municipality operations. Her last assignment was working as the parish disaster preparedness co-ordinator at the St James Municipal Corporation.
In giving her commitment to serving the TMC to the very best of her ability, she told the monthly meeting that her experiences in St James have properly prepared her for this new assignment.
“Working in the St James Municipal Corporation has provided me with experiences of how the municipality functions. I know of the challenges faced and how you deal with them,” said Sinclair, who seemed quite enthused about taking on the new assignment.
Sinclair is a graduate of St Andrew High School for Girls and the University of Technology. She holds a bachelor’s degree in urban planning along with other qualifications, which qualifies her for the position.
“In my new position I intend to focus on maintaining a very robust revenue collection. I also will work towards ensuring that the services offered to the community will be of optimum quality,” said Sinclair, who also stated that she is keen on volunteerism.
“I am a justice of the peace, and I am ready to serve the people who need my service. I am also a member of the St James Red Cross Association,” she added.
