British High Commission welcomes Peter Holbrook
A small group of guests gathered with glee last Monday evening on the lawns of the British High Commission. The occasion was the welcome reception for Peter Holbrook, CEO of Social Enterprise UK, who was in the island to attend the Social Enterprise Boost Initiative organised by Jamaica National (JN) Foundation and USAID. The summit took place last Tuesday.
Buzzing with chatter, members of the Social Enterprise Boost Initiative and the JN group discussed matters of the heart as sporadic outbursts of laughter kept the mood light and casual.
Welcoming the specially invited guests, British High Commissioner David Fitton apologised for not inviting guests inside, as his home was currently under renovation.
COMMENDATIONS
Without further ado, he invited JN General Manager Earl Jarrett to share a few words, jokingly pointing out that the length of Jarrett's speech would equate to the time that guests would have to wait to eat.
Jarrett commended members of the Social Enterprise Group for the work being done and was happy to share that JN is a social network as well, before handing over to the guest of honour, Holbrook.
"It is a privilege to be here in Jamaica, and the reception has been warm. And I am inspired by the work being done here," Holbrook told the gathering.
