Business moguls, head honchos and their supportive dates were all out making a fashion statement as they entered The Jamaica Pegasus hotel's grand ballroom on May 7, for the 33rd staging of the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce (JCC) Awards Dinner.

Hosted by the very entertaining Michael Abrahams, the evening's proceedings quickly climaxed with a surprise performance by musical sensation Tarrus Riley, 'ruining' Abrahams' performance of What A Gwaan Inna Jamaica, much to the delight of the audience. Continuing his high-spirited set, Riley belted out Stay With You, She's Royal and One Drop before handing over to the master of ceremonies.

Through its annual awards, the JCC recognises top Jamaican companies who promote innovation and excellence across the business community. This year's ceremony was held under the theme, 'Releasing the growth within' focusing on inspiring businesses and the nation, to invest in Jamaica as a means of breaking the poverty cycle and putting the country on a path to strong economic growth.

The special Individual Chamber Member Award presentation was met with a standing ovation as it was awarded to the late Francis 'Paco' Kennedy, a former president of the chamber. To collect the award on behalf of the man who worked tirelessly with the Kingston and St Andrew Corporation were his beloved wife, Marjorie, and their children.

Dinner out of the way, it was time to get the show on the road. The presentations began with New Kids on the Block, and GeoTech copping the new Young Entrepreneur Award. The Small Enterprise Award went to Mona School of Business, Kirk Distributors nabbed the Medium Enterprise Award, and bigwig Red Stripe walked away with the Large Enterprise Award.
