When four casinos closed their doors in 2014 due to declining revenues and a growing competition in nearby states such as Maryland, New York and Pennsylvania, Atlantic City had to apply drastic changes to renew its clientele.

Second destination for gambling in the US, Atlantic City (NJ) is located in an ideal site to attract New Yorkers looking for a weekend escape.

However, the image of the destinations was declining in the past years, that is why the city and the casino industry are now fighting back.

Such as Las Vegas, the city is looking to develop it self over gambling and focus now a lot on entertainment, multiplying the opening of conferences facilities, new shows, clubs and restaurants.

As for example, in April 2016, the WAV nightclub will open in the Caesars Atlantic City Hotel & Casino. This 20,000 square feet venue created by a team of top entertainment professionals will be the only one that sit over the Atlantic Ocean. A must see.

New innovative tools are also created in the casino industry, such as Casinos Avenue that can help to locate and discover any “casino near me and their best offers” as their slogan says.

On the gaming side, last Tuesdays, proactive Gambling regulators took a closer look on skill-based slot machines and published temporary rules defining it as approved casino game where game outcome is dependent in whole or in part upon the player's physical dexterity and/or mental ability.

The goal being to attract a younger audience by featuring slot machines mixed with famous skill games such as Angry Birds.

The whole city seems to be rejuvenating, as this is going fast, we will soon enough discover if this strategy is a winning one for Atlantic City.
