Spanish Wines debut in Jamaica

The Bahia Principe Resort is now the first resort in Jamaica to serve the Castillo de Damiel line of fine Spanish wines.

The wines were introduced by distributors Olive International Investments, at a reception at the resort recently. Olive International is now the distributor in the Caribbean, Latin America, and North America, for the Spanish company Agrocampos. They will be distributing five wines in the Jamaican market - a rosÈ from syrah grapes, a white from airen grapes, a red from clavileno crianza grapes, and two reds from tempranillo and cabernet sauvignon grapes, one of which - La Reserva is of an older vintage.

The Los Pozos de Daimiel cellar, where the wines are created, is situated in the Ciudad Real province in La Mancha, the region in which Spanish novelist Cervantes set his famous novel around the adventures of Don Quixote. The relationship of that famous character is reflected in the packaging of the wines. La Mancha is also one of the Denominaciones de Origen" (Designations of origin) of fine wine in Spain.

Daimiel wine is produced under the strict regulations and control of that organisation, and each bottle of Los Pozos wine carries a label confirming conformity to those standards.
