“IF WELLNESS makes you come alive, then go share it with everyone you know, because what the world needs is more people who are alive and sharing their passions. What better way than to help others on a path of wellness, too?” This is the advice of fitness guru Sharon Feanny – words that she lives by.

Feanny had always been exposed to an organic lifestyle. Tucked away in her childhood memories are recollections of home-made spa items, growing their own vegetable garden, and, of course, eating healthy. However, at the age of 14, she was introduced to yoga and that is where Feanny says it all began for her.

Yoga is not something that is done only on a mat. Feanny defines it as a union with one's mind, body, soul, and all beings - it is a way of life. While she could have taken many other career paths, sharing her knowledge on wellness, yoga, healthy eating, and the natural lifestyle, was something that she could not help but do.

"I love more than anything to help others become healthy and happy. When I became a yoga teacher, I made it my intention to come back to Jamaica and bring yoga to every person I knew. People thought I was crazy, but I never gave up," she told Outlook.

For her, it was the fact that yoga not only spoke to the body, but to the entire human being. From what you do physically to your thoughts.

It was also inevitable that her healthy lifestyle would spill over into her diet, so in 2012 she started Life Fit Transformational Detox.

"I wanted to take all my years in wellness and create a package that could really transform people's lives on a deeper level. First, people had to look at what they were putting into their bodies, how they were moving, what they were thinking. What they needed to let go. My programme is not just about detox, but a total life transformation where I give them the tools to change their life in a lasting, meaningful way." She added that this is not a quick fix, but rather a lifestyle change.

Feanny absolutely loves what she does. For her, it is an outlet to share her gift with others. She feels the most exhilaration after she has taken someone through a seven-day detox journey and watch the metamorphosis that happens. She admits that this has brought her to tears many times.

So this woman who lives by the mantra, 'live fit, live life and live love' , has one piece of advice for those who want to maintain a healthy lifestyle - think of your body as the temple.

"Stop trying to change it. Love yourself exactly as you are and treat your body as your best friend. Give it clean, healthy food to eat. Exercise and move your body in any way that makes you happy. Get rest. Take care of yourself and watch your life unfold."
