Four local small/medium enterprises (SMEs) got a boost as part of the Scotiabank Vision Achievers Programme. According to vice-president of marketing, Yanique Forbes Patrick: "The Scotiabank Vision Achiever Programme is very dear to us because it is a transformational programme, which has revolutionised the business practices of over 200 businesses, many of which have been happy to share their successes."

For the past eight years, Scotiabank has partnered with ActionCOACH's Marcia's Woon-Choy. She noted that it has been a truly rewarding experience. "It has been an honour and a pleasure to have worked with Scotiabank since 2011 to help them build the capacity of their business owners. They have been a solid partner who have, not only just by words but by action, stepped up to invest in their clients' success. We have coached over 200 owners and have seen them grow from year to year as a result of what they have learnt in the programme."

 

LADIES' DAYOUT

 

This week, we look at four manufactures who have completed the 17 weeks of the Scotiabank Vision Achiever Programme who were invited to a 'Ladies Day Out', at the Terra Nova All-Suite Hotel in St Andrew. While enjoying cocktails and catching up, the women had their make-up consultations done by Dianne Plummer of Your True Shade Cosmetics, a Jamaican cosmetic company. After make-up,

they were outfitted by KerryManWomanHome, and accessoried by Jan's Accents. The final touch was shoes designed by Danielle Cunningham of Jamaica Sandal Company The ladies enjoyed a day of laughter, fun, and relaxation.

 

Dianne Plummer Your True Shade Cosmetics

 

Your True Shade Cosmetics is a Jamaican make-up and skincare company providing products such as cleansers, foundations, lip glosses, and lipsticks - all locally manufactured. Launched in 2014, this brand caters to all skin tones and types offering a 360-degree make-up and skincare experience to its clients. Now, as one of the 2017 Vision Achievers, CEO Diane Plummer, has not only created a solid vision for her company, but says that the programme "has definitely improved how I operate Your True Shade Cosmetics Ltd and helped to shape my future plans for growth. I was not only able to create a vision for my brand, but I developed a road map to get me there".

The New Greenhouse is a wholesale and retail flower distributor specialising in unique, dynamic, and colourful floral arrangements and gift packages. Their newest offerings are rainbow roses, which they have positioned as a unique selling point thanks to the guidance they have received through the programme. Founding partner and general manager, Nicola McGrath, is grateful for the opportunity and insights the programme has provided her. "The Vision Achiever Programme has given me a boost of confidence to execute the dream I've had for my business for the past five years. I have expanded my team and I'm working towards a total transformation of my company structure and operations, all with the tools ActionCOACH has equipped me with."

Hand-grafted locally and available worldwide - Jamaican Sandal Company is owned and operated by co-owner and director Danielle Cunningham. She prides herself in the partnership she has created with local Jamaican artisans to create unique, stylish footwear for the sophisticated, trendy woman. Cunningham launched her company in 2013, and as a marketer by trade, she thought she knew it all. "The truth is, you really don't know what you don't know." She said that the Vision Achievers Programme has taught her that simple things that often cost little to nothing can do wonders for a business.

 

Janice Forrester Jan's Accents

 

Started in 2011 by Janice Forrester, Jan's Accents is a hobby-turned-passion. Forrester started with clothing but it was her sandals, jewellery, and belts that blossomed into a business, providing almost every accessory a woman could need. She works with materials such as leather, cultured pearls, all the way to metals like brass. Of the programme, she noted: "Scotiabank has quite literally put their money where their talk is in staging a programme like Scotiabank Vision Achievers."
