Cornwall College South Florida Alum Dinner Dance
Patricia Edwards gave the audience goose pimples with her rendition of I Rise, Karen Smith took them down memory lane, and Gem Myers stole their hearts with Jennifer Hudson'sI Am Not Living Without You.
At the end of the evening, the 500 patrons who flocked the 23rd Cornwall College Alumni Association, South Florida Chapter Dinner Dance seemed to agree they would not attend next year's event without 'Pakage'.
The trio, whose musical talent spans years on both the international and local scene, blew the roof off, taking the house down at the new Pembroke Pines Centre in Florida recently.
They came to deliver, and this they did with poise and tenacity. Dressed as queens ready to protect their thrones, Edwards, Smith and Myers gave the best performance many said they had witnessed in the 23 years of the event.
"We don't know how we will be able to match what Pakage did this year," said committee co-chairman Lance Gibbs.
The event, staged annually to raise funds for students at the Montego Bay-based Cornwall College, received tremendous support from several sponsors, including Royalton White Sands, Jewel Resorts, Half Moon and Sea Gardens.
"As a chapter, they have been moving away the mountain of our needs, one stone and often one rock at a time," was how acting principal at the institution, Lecia Allen, described the help the school has been getting over the years.
